What is Autofocus and how does it work on the MXA910?

MXA910 Ceiling Array Microphones running firmware version 4.0.12 or later have a feature called Autofocus, which fine-tunes the position of each lobe to keep a meeting participant in focus. Autofocus is always enabled and cannot be defeated. Starting in firmware version 4.1.41, the Autofocus engine uses the AEC Reference input to reject far-end audio and improve lobe positioning. Shure highly recommends updating all MXA910 Ceiling Array Microphones to the latest firmware available and always routing far-end audio to each microphone's AEC Reference Input.

The MXA910 will continuously search for a meeting participant within three feet (36") of the center of each lobe. The Autofocus engine will then move the lobe up to 18" in any direction to keep that participant in the lobe. Lobes will not move farther than 18" in any direction, and in the event two lobes are positioned close to one another, lobes will not move closer than halfway to the center of the adjacent lobe. All lobes are anchored by the position configured by the user, and will not follow a person around the room.

Autofocus cannot be disabled on the MXA910.
